Empowering the Future: Highlights from the European Hydrogen Week 2023
From November 20th to 24th of 2023, Brussels hosted the European Hydrogen Week, a pivotal event that brought together stakeholders from every corner of the hydrogen sector.
Over the course of four days, participants engaged in high-level conferences, B2B forums, panels discussions, and networking sessions, creating a dynamic platform for collaboration and innovation. Exhibitors showcased their hydrogen-related products, solutions, and projects, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of knowledge exchange and industry advancement.
Key announcements during the European Hydrogen Week, co-organized by the European Commission, Hydrogen Europe, and the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, highlighted the commitment to propelling the hydrogen economy forward:
- European Hydrogen Bank Pilot Auction: On November 23rd, the European Commission unveiled the pilot auction of the European Hydrogen Bank, amounting 800 million Euros. During the Hydrogen Week, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen revealed plans for a second auction in spring 2024, with a substantial budget of 2.2 billion Euros.
- EU’s Ambitious Hydrogen Goals: The European Union reaffirmed its dedication to achieving ambitious hydrogen goals. President Ursula von der Leyen pledged to evaluate the National Hydrogen Strategies of Member States, emphasizing the importance of implementation.
