EIB ELENA - Scaling up investment in clean energy infrastructure locally
The European Investment Bank’s European Local ENergy Assistance (ELENA) grant facility took center stage in Cyprus as stakeholders gathered for the EIB ELENA Info Day. ELENA provides technical assistance for energy efficiency and renewable energy investments targeting buildings and innovative urban transport.
The event, held on 15 December 2023 in Nicosia, Cyprus, provided a platform for the relevant stakeholders to explore opportunities, share insights, and foster collaboration towards a more sustainable future. It was welcomed by Kyriacos Kakouris, Vice President, European Investment Bank, Myrto Zambarta, Head of European Commission Representation in Cyprus and Andreas Vyras, President, Union of Cyprus Municipalities.
Moreover, the Info Day featured engaging discussions, presentations, and meetings with EIB ELENA representatives aimed at enhancing understanding of the ELENA initiative’s impact on sustainable energy projects. Attendees had the chance to delve into success stories, learn about the funding mechanism and the way to apply for support. Mrs Anthi Charalambous, Senior Low Carbon Economy Expert and Director of ideopsis ltd moderated the event.
As Cyprus strives for greener and more efficient energy solutions, the EIB ELENA Info Day proved to be a crucial milestone. It not only highlighted the available financial support, but also encouraged networking among stakeholders, paving the way for innovative projects that align with European energy objectives.
