Contract Award to the Consortium ideopsis Ltd – PASECO for the Provision of Services for the Study on the Quantitative and Qualitative Composition of Municipal Waste in Cyprus
The Contracting Authority Department of Environment has awarded to the Consortium ideopsis Ltd – PASECO the Contract for the Provision of Services for the preparation of a study aimed at determining the quantitative and qualitative composition of municipal waste and conducting sampling in various types of areas across the districts of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Famagusta, and Paphos. The Contract was signed on 7 November 2025 and has a duration of eighteen (18) months.
The main objective of the project is to identify the quantitative and qualitative composition of the generated municipal waste in all districts under the jurisdiction of the Republic of Cyprus, over a period of twelve (12) months.
The study will contribute to assessing progress towards achieving the national and EU recycling and reuse targets for municipal waste by weight:
- 55% by 2025
- 60% by 2030
- 65% by 2035
Importance of the Project
Understanding the quantitative and qualitative composition of municipal waste is of key importance for the evaluation and biennial revision of the Municipal Waste Management Plan (MWMP).
The results of this study will support evidence-based decision-making and the design of effective actions and measures for achieving the national objectives in waste management and the transition to a circular economy.
The Consortium ideopsis Ltd – PASECO will implement the project with a commitment to scientific rigor, reliability, and professional excellence, contributing to the advancement of sustainable waste management practices in Cyprus.
