On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the first meeting of the founding members of the “Lefkothea Energy Community” took place successfully — an initiative of the Municipality of Nicosia.
The new Energy Community brings together the collaboration of the Municipalities of Lakatamia and Latsia–Geri, as well as organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises, community groups, and citizens, fostering collective action for sustainable energy and local development.

During the meeting, the participants reached an agreement on the content of the Founding and Statutory Document through a constructive and open exchange of views, suggestions, and ideas. A concise briefing was also provided by the team of ideopsis – Energy & Environmental Consultants on the key provisions of the documents, which have been prepared in full alignment with the current regulatory framework.

At the same meeting, the temporary Board of Directors of the Community was appointed. We are delighted to announce that the Founding and Statutory Document has been officially submitted and that the Lefkothea Energy Community of Citizens has now been formally approved!
