ideopsis is proud to actively contribute to a landmark initiative: the creation of Cyprus’s first Energy Community, led by the Nicosia Municipality. This ambitious project reflects a bold step toward a more sustainable, inclusive, and locally driven energy transition.

Driven by the vision of Mayor Charalambos Prountzos, this initiative aims to place citizens at the heart of the energy system—empowering communities to take ownership of their energy future. The Energy Community will serve as a model for decentralized, clean energy in Cyprus.

On July 29, 2025, the journey officially began with the First Public Consultation coordinated by the Nicosia Municipality Mayor. This milestone event opened a constructive dialogue with citizens and local stakeholders, sparking interest, raising awareness, and mobilising support.

Dr. Chryso Sotiriou, Supervisor at ideopsis, moderated the discussion, while Dr. Anna Artemi, Energy Policy Expert at ideopsis, presented the core structure and goals of the Energy Community—emphasizing the benefits for its future members.

Ms. Anthi Charalambous, Director of ideopsis, participated in the panel discussion, offering expert perspectives and clarifications that deepened the audience’s understanding of the Energy Community’s role within the local context.
