A Technical Seminar “Energy in Buildings 2023” took place on 8th of April 2023 9:30 – 16:00 at Cyprus International Fair Grounds, organized by ASHRAE Chapters of Cyprus and Greece. The idea behind the Technical Symposium is to bring new ideas and research on the topic of Energy with a focus on the Building Sector.

Keeping in mind the EU target of climate neutrality by 2050, the determination of a cost-effective decarbonisation pathway and the evaluation of the economics of greenhouse gas emissions reductions are crucial. The member of ideopsis team, Dr Chryso Sotiriou presented a useful tool for the prioritization of climate change mitigation measures in all sectors covered by the Effort Sharing Regulation, i.e., Buildings, Transportation, Agriculture, Light Industry and Waste. In line with the revised Effort Sharing Regulation adopted by the Council in March 2023, the national binding target for Cyprus for those sectors is to reduce the emissions by 32% by 2030 compared to 2005 levels.
