Technical assistance in the framework of the Energy Communities Repository of the European Commission.

Energy Communities organise collective and citizen-led energy actions that help pave the way for a clean energy transition, while bringing citizens to the forefront. Energy Communities offer a means to restructure our energy systems, harnessing energy and enabling citizens to actively participate in the energy transition and thus reap greater benefits. The aim of the Energy Communities repository, launched in April 2022, is to assist local actors and citizens wishing to create a Citizens’ Energy Community or a Renewable Energy Community in urban areas through technical and administrative advice and to encourage their development.

The aim of the Capacity Building Seminar is to assist local authority leaders and local stakeholders to gain in-depth knowledge of Energy Communities, to build on practices in other countries, to understand the potential benefits and to understand technical operational details.
The Municipality of Strovolos is receiving this free training because applied in 2022 for technical support to the European Commission’s Energy Communities repository.
The implementation of the Seminar is funded by the European Commission and implemented by REScoop.eu which contracted the implementation to ideopsis Ltd. In Cyprus the involved institution is CSI (Centre for Social Innovation).
